This material is made from pineapple leaves previously formed as waste during pineapple processing. Pineapple leaf fibers are taken out of the leaf and crushed or compressed into a sewable material. No such aggressive chemicals and dyes are used as in leather processing, so this material is more environmentally friendly.

The company is currently purchasing the required amount of pineapple leaves from local farmers in the philippines, giving them extra income by paying for material they have hitherto treated as worthless waste.
